It’s no secret that women make up a large part of tech companies.
However, when it comes to workplace harassment, women are often left out of the conversation.
Now, one of the women in the tech world is taking a stand.
On Friday, a representative for Facebook announced that the company would be adding a new set of tools to its diversity and inclusion tools.
The new tool, codenamed Code, is being built by a group of engineers from the social media company.
The code is meant to be a place where tech companies can share their internal processes, and allow their employees to report and report back to their employers, said Kristin McEwen, the company’s vice president for diversity and inclusivity.
“We are going to have a place to say, ‘What happened?
How did we treat you?’ or, ‘Are you doing things the right way?'”
A few of the tools are focused on the workplace, including a code of conduct, which aims to help tech companies identify problems and offer solutions.
Facebook says it will also create a code to document how tech companies are changing their policies and practices.
“Our goal is to provide tools that will make it easier for employees to share information with one another about issues and problems they encounter at work,” McEwan said.
The social media giant also announced plans to increase its efforts to fight workplace discrimination, including by creating a new office for women in its human resources department, and launching a “Women in the Workplace” group, which will focus on issues such as gender-based violence and sexual harassment.
