News24 has learned that Hulu not working on the new Netflix app due to the 'Wicked' movies and TV show. The service, which has been a hit with Netflix subscribers, has been missing a large number of ads from the streaming service for months. However, this latest development has put Hulu in a bind as it cannot use its own 'Wickless' service to stream the Netflix catalog without the permission of the ...
The researchers from the University of Colorado Boulder and Stanford University analyzed nearly 700 million hours of Hulu videos and found that only 3.2 percent of the ads that aired on the service in 2018 were from work boots.
The rest were from non-work products.
“We found that while a substantial number of work-related content was being played, a much smaller number of content was actually being shown in the work environment,” said study lead author Michael B. Ochs, a professor of psychology and neuroscience at the university.
“This suggests that, for most viewers, the content that they see in Hulu videos is typically non-essential or unessential, or that it is not very informative or entertaining.”
Ochse added that the study shows Hulu is a relatively small market.
“For the vast majority of consumers, the ads they see are typically not relevant to their work or personal life,” he said.
“And it’s the ads on Hulu that are not really relevant.”
The researchers also found that the ads for Hulu worked for viewers who watch a lot of television.
The average user watched a total of 1.8 hours of TV per day in 2018, and the average person spent 6 hours watching television a day.
“The content is all relevant, and that’s why it’s important to make the right decision for your viewers,” Ochss said.
The study was published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: General.
