The account of Jerusalem’s mayor has been suspended for violating the terms of its Facebook account.
The account, which has been set up to post public messages from Jerusalem, was suspended Friday by the Jerusalem municipality.
It was created by the mayor after he announced the creation of a social media platform to share his thoughts on matters of concern to his city.
The social media firm, which was created in February 2017, was meant to allow mayors to connect with citizens, but its chief is no longer working for the municipality, according to a statement from the Jerusalem office of the mayor.
It said that it had decided to suspend the account for a number of reasons, including that the mayor has posted a photo of a dead child that was posted on his personal Instagram account, and because he has posted comments on social media in which he criticized the state of Israel and the Jewish people.
In addition, it said that the account was used to incite hatred and to encourage others to act against the Jewish state, and it has been used to promote anti-Semitic hate speech.
The mayor said that he was unaware that he had been suspended.
He said he would appeal.
A statement posted on the mayor’s Facebook page Friday evening said that during the period of suspension, the mayor would continue to post messages on Facebook and in other places on social networks.
The mayor said the suspension will not affect the mayor, and that he would not be penalized for posting such messages on his social media accounts.
The statement did not identify the source of the suspension.
In the past, the Jerusalem mayor has publicly criticized the Jewish State, with one post calling on the state to end its illegal settlements and another criticizing the Jewish community for its alleged anti-Semitism.
The Jewish community in Jerusalem has accused the city’s government of targeting the community with racist measures.
Israel’s security services, the Shin Bet security service and police have often faced criticism from Jewish communities for cracking down on anti-Arab, anti-Palestinian and other attacks.
In 2015, the Jewish communities head of police, Aryeh Deri, said that “in all of our years of existence, there have never been any cases of anti-Jewish incidents.”
The mayor, who was elected in June 2017, is a member of the governing coalition, and he has said that a majority of his constituents support his position on the issue of Jerusalem and its future.
He said in a tweet that he is not worried about his account being suspended because he believes that social media platforms are important and have helped to make the world a more open and tolerant place.
He has also called for “peace and unity,” and has criticized the recent wave of violence in the Palestinian territories.
